Offline Google Mail – A step ahead from online Gmail

Web based mail is great. But there are times when you need access to your mails and your internet connection is down. Even though we have plenty of options to stay connected to the outside world, be it via regular broadband, WiFi, or 3G enabled smartphones but access to online service offline is still better.

Google had rolled out Gear based Offline Gmail, but now it has released HTML5 based Offline Gmail. Using Offline Gmail require Google Chrome or Chromium browser.

The Offline Gmail will give you  adfree access to your mails in a much user friendly manner. A two column interface is provided similar to online Gmail.

Another benefit of using this application is that on slower connections you will not have to load Gmail each time you need to access your mails and some of the bandwidth is saved as not ads are loaded with the application.

We recommend you to give it a try.

To access Gmail offline, you will need

1. Google Chrome or Chromium browser

2. Offline Google Mail extention

To install Google Chrome go to “Google Chrome Download” page.

Now you need to install “Chrome Web Store – Offline Google Mail“.

Click the Add to Chrome button:

You might get a pop up box as shown:

Click install.

Now go to Apps and you will find Offline Google Mail application icon.

When you open this application it will give you following settings page:

Thats all you are ready to use “Offline Google Mail”.

To open “Offline Google Mail” go to Apps tab, and launch “Offline Google Mail”.

Done.
