How to Install WordPress on Ubuntu


INSTALLING MySQL Query Browser – This is to ease database creation tasks.

To install “MySQL Query Browser” open “Ubuntu software center” or “Synaptic Package manager”, and search for “MySQL Query Browser”, and Click “Install”.

Once “MySQL Query Browser” is installed, you can open it from “Programming->MySQL Query Browser”. It will start with a login prompt, where you need to enter your “MySQL” username (here “root”) and password(the one you had entered during MySQL installation).

INSTALLING MySQL administrator – This is to ease mysql user and other database related tasks.

To install “MySQL administrator” open “Ubuntu software center” or “Synaptic Package manager”, and search for “MySQL administrator”, and Click “Install”.

Once “MySQL administrator” is installed, you can open it from “Programming->MySQL administrator”. It will start with a login prompt, where you need to enter your “MySQL” username (here “root”) and password(the one you had entered during MySQL installation).

 


1. CREATING DATABASE


Open MySQL Query Browser, and enter the password for your MySQL database.

Now in the box shown enter the command

CREATE DATABASE wordpress;

(Dont forget to use semicolon at the end. wordpress is the database name and you can use any other name if you like eg. myblog_db)

Press the execute button.

This completes the database creation.
